伤城

Confession of Pain.

Truly one of the most amazing movies i've ever watched! Was attracted by the first soundtrack so i joined my dad in the living room to watch it.

Along the way, i mentioned to my dad it was impossible to tell if the plot was good (since we haven't watched to the end) but one thing i knew - this film definitely had quality at least in terms of cinematography.

All the way to the end, I was really impressed! The soundtracks, the acting, the filming, the plot. (Spoiler alert!) Dad and i especially enjoyed the exchange between Bong and Lau in the last few minutes of the show.

Bong: “但Susan不应该死”
Lau: "那我家人应该死吗？”

It's the kinda question that throws you off guard and makes you shut up. And think. Haha (Y).

Coming to think of it, it may not be all that surprising that this film was so good, considering the 2 main characters were acted by Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Takeshi Kaneshiro (both acted in Red Cliff, another commendable film too!). The other 2 characters were acted by the renown Shu Qi and Xu Jinglei.

A quick search online revealed - 伤城 was nominated for SEVEN awards in the 26th HK Film Awards (Best Screenplay, Best Art Direction, Best Actor [Leung] etc) and they were finally awarded Best Cinematography.


HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for those who have not watched! It's the kinda show i wouldn't mind watching in the cinema more than once. (Check youtube! If you know what i mean.)

Yet another HK film to add to my fave movies list! (:
