So much heat in the public forums recently.
HOPELESS ads.
I wonder why it didn't occur to MCYS that the ad could be so easily misinterpreted. Truthfully though, I don't think it has anything to do with misinterpretation on the part of the public. "Hopeless. If not for..." is obviously implying that people with disabilities are completely dependent on others - getting through the day by their own means is near impossible. That is certainly not true. I guess they wanted to catch the attention of the public but surely there are better ways to do that.
"There are more dogs than humans in Singapore." (translated) - Sun Xu, Scholar, NUS Mech Eng.
Probably the most famous quote in sgp the past few days. Are Singaporeans just xenophobic or are we really strained by the competitive, costly and crowded environment we live in today?
Can $1k/month buy a family a flat?
So much heated debate on this issue going on. Calculations show that it's possible but not without assumptions. And it is impossible to consider valuate all the factors. I think the best people who can determine the validity of the statement made by the DPM are those who are truly living on $1k/month.
"Vikram Nair compares Chen Show Mao's proposal to a Nigerian scam" - The Online Citizen
Have yet to read an article about this issue from a neutral and reliable source so shall refrain from commenting. But netizens in general seem more inclined towards CSM's argument.
Are these debates here to stay? Or will they die down after a week or two?
