/RANT/

I want to rant about this morning!!

I was so fuming mad i could strangle chickens.

First i had to walk to mrt in heels because the first bus that came was too packed it didn't bother to stop and according to iris, the next bus was coming in 21 minutes. TWENTY-ONE MINUTES AT PEAK PERIOD. WHAT ARE THEY THINKING SERIOUSLY.

Btw, the reliability of iris drops at peak period i think. Just yesterday, it said 7 mins the first time i checked. 6 minutes later, I checked again just to double confirm the bus would be arriving soon. Turned out they cheekily added another 5 minutes. Hmph.

Okay nvm, so i left the bus stop and headed to mrt. Had to walk on the road (yes, the ROAD with cars zooming pass) because the pavements were under construction. At least something good is coming out of the construction works so I won't complain about that.

Finally reached mrt and boarded the packed train, WAS TOLD TO ALIGHT WHEN THE TRAIN REACHED JURONG EAST. They announced that the train we were on was "not for passenger service". THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR LITTLE BONUS RIDE FROM LAKESIDE TO JURONG EAST. I guess we shouldn't be complaining since the train was not meant for us in the first place, and it was already very kind of them to transport us for 2 stations.

Anw, we alighted and joined the crowd already formed at the platforms at je. Imagine the mass of crowd coming from green AND red lines at that hour. Waited for THREE trains to pass before I managed to get shoved into one.

Yes i did not board the train, i simply got SHOVED into one. I don't blame the ppl who pushed me in. With all these bus/train disruptions, everyone was running late and who wants to be late every other day.

And if you think getting onto the train is the end of your worries, you are so wrong. Surviving the train ride is another great feat. Especially when you're squashed up against other strangers' bodies, you've nothing to hold on to and the TRAIN COMES TO A HALT RANDOMLY ALONG THE WAY.

Ok that was today. I need to rant about last week's incident as well.

Reached LS mrt stn as usual in the morning, found it packed to the brim, literally. The escalators had been switched off cos the platforms were so packed, ppl were spilling over into the escalators, right down to the control station.

The only announcements they made were about a train service delay/ train disruption at jurong east/ apologies for the inconvenience. Y'know, there's a limit to the number of times you can say sorry for the same fault and after that it means nothing.

Anw, i managed to get up to the platform level (thanks to the shovers). Shoving, the next national sport. Best played in buses and train stations, opened to all commuters. Tip: To improve your skills, leave your house just a little later when you're heading to work at peak hour. Everyone has a potential to be a great shover. You may not like the sport at first but once you're enter the playing field, you're forced to shove as well. Be amazed at your own shoving powers.

Okay back to point. It was my honour to witness the train engage itself in a little dancing, Cha-Cha like. First it came from boon lay, stopped at lakeside, opened the doors. Closed the doors, moved forward a little (direction towards chi garden), moved back to the station. Opened the doors, closed the doors, moved in the opposite direction (towards boon lay).

Then we (commuters) were told there there was no train service to pasir ris. That's it. No explanation, no solution. What are we supposed to do when they make these kind of announcements? Walk home, change out of our clothes and go back to bed? I mean, they were not offering us any other alternative routes/ systems we could use to head to our destinations (mostly for work/ school at that time). Were they expecting all of us to flag a cab and make a claim from our school/office?

To add salt to wound, the staff then waent on to announce that there was still train service towards joo koon. OKAY SO HELPFUL. TAKING A TRAIN TO JOO KOON WILL BRING US CLOSER TO OUR DESTINATIONS. Or perhaps they were thinking we could go to joo koon and then take a train back towards pasir ris? But umm, don't they run on the same line? LOL.

The staff making the announcement did say sth really funny into the PA system but I won't repeat it here (spare this poor individual the embarrassment). I guess the front-line staff are quite helpless in these situations too. I mentioned they should come up with a template for announcements but Cyn reminded me about the taxi "Income Opportunity" incident haha.

I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER NOW. /rant over/.
